What Is Zaro?

Zaro is the early filler unit use only when the account has empty lineup space. Tier lists put Zaro in the low starter group and gives it less priority than Choi or Tranks for early DPS. That makes the decision direct: field Zaro when the roster is thin, then replace it quickly. Games.GG says Choi and Tranks are the better starting DPS options and that Zaro is mostly there to fill slots. Beebom places Zaro in C tier, and ChainPlay groups Zaro with start-of-game units that get replaced soon after. Zaro's job is therefore not to carry the account, farm hard content, or take premium trait rolls. It is a temporary body for the first stages. Use Zaro if the team still has an empty placement slot or if every owned DPS is weak. Stop investing once the account pulls Choi, Tranks with better upgrades, Big Beard, Karashi, Vegata, Goki forms, Woo, or another stronger unit. If enemies survive too long, Zaro is not the answer; the account needs a stronger damage unit or a better team shell.

How To Get Zaro

Zaro's exact obtain route still needs the live UI. Check the starter unit flow, summon banner, unit index, early mission rewards, and first-stage reward panels. If Zaro appears as a starter, common summon, or early reward, use that live screen as the route. If the live unit index shows a different path, follow the in-game UI before spending gems.

Zaro Abilities

Zaro is used as basic early filler damage. Its value is simply giving the roster another unit to place when better options are missing. Exact attack type, range, cooldown, placement cap, upgrade prices, passive text, and whether it has any special effect need the live unit card before fixed values are safe. Use Zaro as a temporary slot filler, not a damage plan.

When to field it

Field Zaro only when the roster still has empty space or every other DPS option is weaker. If Zaro helps clear the first waves, use it while saving resources. If the team starts failing, look for a stronger unit instead of building around Zaro.

Choi and Tranks comparison

Choi and Tranks are the better starter DPS targets in guide notes. If either unit has better stats, traits, or upgrades on the account, use that unit over Zaro. Zaro stays as a backup slot.

Team fit

Zaro can stand behind basic support or economy while the account learns early stages. Fastwagon can help upgrades, Mamosa can heal, and Shield Hero can hold leaks, but those supports should eventually protect a better DPS than Zaro.

What to verify in game

Check Zaro's card for attack type, range, cooldown, placement cap, upgrade prices, and passive text. Then compare actual stage clears against Choi, Tranks, Big Beard, Karashi, or the next owned DPS to decide when Zaro leaves the team.

Zaro FAQ

Is Zaro good in Anime Squadron?

Only as an early filler. Zaro can fill an empty slot, but Choi, Tranks, and later DPS units should replace it.

How do you get Zaro?

The exact route needs the live UI. Check the starter flow, summon banner, unit index, early missions, and first-stage reward panels.

Should I use Zaro or Choi?

Use Choi if both are available with similar upgrades. Zaro is mainly a backup when the roster still needs another unit.

Should I reroll traits on Zaro?

No. Save rare trait rerolls for higher-tier units. Zaro should only receive minimal early investment.

When should I replace Zaro?

Replace Zaro as soon as Choi, Tranks, Big Beard, Karashi, Vegata, Goki forms, Woo, or another stronger DPS can take the slot.
