What Is Shin?
Shin is a low-tier temporary roster patch. Tier lists place Shin in the bottom unit group, below early DPS options like Choi and Tranks. That gives Shin a narrow job: fill a slot only when the account has no better unit to place. Beebom lists Shin in D tier. ChainPlay groups Shin with the weakest start-of-game units, and other community tier lists points players toward replacing low-tier starters quickly. Shin can still matter for a brand-new account because an empty slot does no damage at all. The moment a stronger DPS, support, tank, or economy unit appears, Shin should move out. Save rare trait rerolls, evolution materials, or long-term upgrade resources on Shin. If the unit helps clear the first map or two, use it while saving for better pulls. If enemies start leaking, bosses stay alive, or even Choi, Tranks, Zaro, Big Beard, Mamosa, Rudaus, Shield Hero, Karashi, or Vegata is available, Shin is no longer the right slot.
How To Get Shin
Shin's exact obtain route still needs the live UI. Check the starter unit flow, summon banner, unit index, early mission rewards, and first-stage reward panels. If Shin appears as a starter, common pull, or early reward, use that live UI as the route. If the current patch lists Shin somewhere else, follow the in-game unit index before spending gems.
Shin Abilities
Shin is used only as basic low-tier filler. Its value comes from taking an empty slot and adding some early damage or presence while the account has no better unit. Exact attack type, range, cooldown, placement cap, upgrade prices, passive text, and whether Shin has any special mechanic need the live unit card before fixed values are safe. Use Shin as a short bridge, not a build target.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Can fill an empty slot: Shin has one practical job: give a brand-new account another unit to place. That can matter for the earliest stages before the roster has enough better units.
- Easy to drop: Shin does not create a hard roster decision. Once almost any stronger unit appears, the player can remove Shin without protecting long-term resources.
Cons
- Bottom-tier ceiling: Shin sits in the lowest tier group in rankings. It should not stay in the lineup once early enemies gain more health or the account unlocks better starters.
- No reason for premium investment: Rare rerolls, scarce materials, and long upgrade paths should go to units that stay in squads longer. Shin should receive only the minimum needed to pass the first checks.

Obtain Methods
- Check starter and early UI: Look for Shin in the starter flow, summon banner, unit index, early mission rewards, and first-stage reward panels. The live UI decides whether Shin is currently a starter, common pull, or early reward.
- Use only as emergency filler: Field Shin only when the roster has no better unit for that slot. Replace it as soon as Choi, Tranks, Zaro, Big Beard, Mamosa, Rudaus, Shield Hero, or any higher-tier unit appears.

When to field it
Field Shin only if the squad has an empty slot and no stronger unit to place. If Shin helps clear the opening wave, keep saving resources. If the run fails, Shin is not the unit to build around; a better pull or farm target should replace it.
Replacement order
Replace Shin before replacing Choi or Tranks. Zaro is also usually a better filler choice if the card stats are close. Big Beard, Karashi, Vegata, Goki forms, Woo, and every upper-tier DPS should push Shin out immediately.
Trait boundary
Premium traits are not worth chasing on Shin. A basic roll can stay if it already exists, but premium trait currency belongs on units that solve real stage problems later: damage, tanking, economy, healing, or cooldown support.
What to verify in game
Check Shin's unit card for attack type, range, cooldown, placement cap, upgrade prices, and passive text. Then compare the stage result against any other owned unit. If another unit clears faster or stops more leaks, Shin leaves the team.
Shin FAQ
Is Shin good in Anime Squadron?
No for long-term play. Shin is only an emergency early filler when the roster has no better unit.
How do you get Shin?
The exact route needs the live UI. Check starter choices, summon banners, the unit index, early missions, and first-stage reward panels.
Should I upgrade Shin?
Only upgrade Shin enough to pass the first stage checks. Save rare materials for stronger units.
Is Shin better than Zaro?
Usually no. Zaro has higher early filler priority in tier lists, while Shin sits in the bottom group.
When should I replace Shin?
Replace Shin as soon as Choi, Tranks, Zaro, Big Beard, Mamosa, Rudaus, Shield Hero, Karashi, Vegata, or any stronger unit is available.
